Olle Karlsson is a Swedish photographer, producer and founder of the film production company OPTV (Olle Production and Television). He has been a Sprend user for more than twenty years. Olle started out in 1999 with news production for TV. Today, he is more into sports production and in-depth reporting. No matter the format or platform, his work has always been the same: help the client tell a story.
He works with private companies on projects such as setting up studios and producing online conferences. Local municipalities and regions in Sweden often hire him to produce live events or short films that present local projects.
As a self-employed professional, he takes on many responsibilities. – I am the CEO and the coffee maker, and that’s what I like, he said. Olle works in many collaborations, too, often hired as a producer. For example, at the Umeå car rally in Sweden, he worked as a part of the event crew, producing live cuts for an audience of 100 million worldwide.
In Olle’s line of work, files are super-large. Sending them to clients and partners can easily become complicated. In the early days, he used DVDs to distribute them. As technology evolved, and both video production and distribution moved online, he made his workflow and delivery methods fully digital.
Sending large files through online tools raises security concerns, too. Public institutions have more safety procedures. Some require servers to be located in the EU and demand compliance with EU regulations.
Olle says he tried other methods and services for transmitting his footage and features. Some were not as reliable as he hoped, and some were not so easy for his clients to use. Sprend, on the other hand, scored high on both counts. It was always about sending and receiving heavy files and folders easily, and moving on with busy schedules in which every minute counts.

Features he likes the most:
Add or remove files during upload. You don’t need to start over—you can just pause the upload and make changes you need.
Branded download page. Not only does it look professional, but it also reassures clients. – When they click a download link, they can instantly see it’s from Olle and not some weird link. It’s good for safety reasons, too.
Flexible storage time. Most often he chooses four weeks; he says it’s long enough for the majority of recipients to download files. He is not interested in keeping them on Sprend permanently. –The point is to take files and start using them, and not keep them on the transfer service forever, he said.
Notifications when clients download files. He appreciates that bit of information, because if the recipient hasn’t downloaded the files, he can send a reminder. Recipients also get notified by Sprend two days after sending and before expiry.
Reliability and ease of use are paramount
