Svenska Aero-Bilder AB is a Swedish company founded in 1965, specializing in aerial photography. Since their inception they have captured buildings and landmarks across Sweden, first from helicopters and airplanes, and more recently using drones. Today, they have the nation’s largest archive of aerial photos, spanning twenty-two collections and several million photos. It is constantly growing, as new photos are added from various sources. Their records even include photos dating back to the late 1940s, making them an invaluable resource for anyone looking to update historical imagery. In Sweden, Svenska Aero-Bilder is a household name. There is hardly a person who hasn't heard of them, as having a heritage photo of one’s property has become a true cultural tradition.
Sprend as an integral part of the workflow, for years
Svenska Aero-Bilder has been using Sprend for 15 years now. –When we discovered the service, we started using it immediately. Back in the days, we used to share photo imagery on floppy disks and then on CDs. Then we used cloud storage, but that didn’t work for us in the exact way we needed, said Tobbe Andersson, a lab manager, photographer and salesperson of Svenska Aero-Bilder AB.

Sending and receiving large files quickly and easily
It is common in their day-to-day work to go door to door and show people historical aerial photos of their houses, farms and land properties. If they like what they see, people can have these images printed and framed, or they can buy digital versions to use on their websites, in books etc. Customers can also order a new aerial photo, taken from the same angle as an older photo they already have, which creates a photo narrative in its own right. Whenever there is a need to send photos taken onsite to the head office, Svenska Aero-Bilder personnel will use Sprend. The transfer is quick and easy, and can be done from anywhere across the country.
As a Sprend Team user, Svenska Aero-Bilder also uses the service to receive large files from their partners and customers. This is possible even if they don’t have a Sprend account. –When we are buying pictures from other archives, we simply send them a Sprend link where they can easily upload the materials, Tobbe explained. The same goes for customers. For example, when they have an old framed photo that lost its color and want us to check if we have it in the archive, I ask them to take a photo with their phone and send it over Sprend. It is super convenient.
A customised background with their logo and colours helps make the process even more familiar and professional for their customers.
Aero-Bilder uses Sprend when they need to send any large document. –When we need to send something we just say: I’ll sprend it to you. In our line of business, it often means sending out a couple of gigabytes. No standard email service supports that.

What they love most about Sprend is that it is easy to use and it supports the transmission of files of any size, without limitations. Files are transferred securely, following strict EU data protection rules and privacy standards. Having customer support in Swedish is very important for Svenska Aero-Bilder. –If I have a question I just call Karin, we speak the same language. It makes communication so much easier. And to me it is important that it is easy.
